Fortnite cross-play is now live between PCs and consoles, but it’s not working for everyone

Update, March 15: Fortnite cross-play between PC and consoles is now live, but it’s been an awkward rollout.

Fortnite cross-play is now live - sort of. Though not officially part of the patch notes for today’s 3.3 update, the update has enable play between platforms, though right now it’s only been activating for certain players.

Nearly 5,000 years of Fortnite have been streamed on Twitch - in just two weeks. 

 

After the patch, players are supposed to get a notification allowing them to opt in to cross-platform matchmaking, but it’s not showing up for everyone. We didn’t see it on the Xbox One we tried, and others have had the same issue, but you can see what the message is supposed to look like on Reddit. Once it’s all sorted, there will also be a menu option allowing you to opt in or out of cross-play.
