AMD Vega GPU or no, the Ryzen 3 2200G is a great budget gaming CPU on its own

The red team this week launched the AMD Raven Ridge desktop APUs, with the Ryzen 5 2400G standing proud as the top-end halo part, but what of the lower-spec Ryzen 3 2200G? What has this $99 (£88) quad-core got to offer? Well, quite a lot actually.

The Ryzen 3 2200G has the lowest spec of the two current Raven Ridge APUs, but there are supposedly more Athlon-branded APUs on their way, with a multi-threaded dual-core sporting a potential Athlon 200GE name being spotted in the ever-reliable SiSoft Sandra database. Good ol’ Sandy.
